Obituary of Martin T. Simpkins Sr.
Vernon-Martin T. Simpkins Sr., age 67, of Verona Street, Vernon passed away from pancreatic cancer early Saturday morning March 23, 2024 in the Abraham House of Utica after a brief stay.
He was born on February 5, 1957 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Floyd Simpkins and Dorothy Phister Stiles and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools.
On March 22, 1991 Marty and Heidi A. Steinberger were united in marriage in Vernon Center, New York and have shared this union of thirty-three years and one day together.
Marty will be missed at the School Bell Apartments in Vernon where he served as the maintenance repair man and at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vernon where Marty and his son James were the caretakers of the cemetery and kept the cemetery in pristine condition.
In his spare time Marty loved going to his camp on Beaver River Station and spending time with his "Camp Family" and when at home he had a love for animals especially cats.
Surviving is his wife Heidi A. Simpkins of Vernon, two sons, James Simpkins at home and Martin T. Simpkins Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m..In keeping with Marty's wishes there will be no funeral services.
